Bitihorn trail running Shorts

These shorts are by far the best product from Norrøna that has come on the market. Sadly for you and for me, they are currently off the market as Norrøna is working on a new variant for their Lyngen collection.

@Norrøna can I get these? - Your’s truly Alex.

Let’s dig into why these 100-gram, 1-hour dry trail running shorts are the best thing that ever happened to me.

I will go off the bat and list what I love about these shorts.

Made from over 50% recycled synthetic materials, makes them a great choice for anyone that likes a good environmental choice.

They are light, I would say as light as your T-shirt. Weighing in at about 99.7 grams. Making them a joy to run in and they feel like a delight to wear.

They dry quickly, making them incredibly nice for hiking, running, and climbing in summer. I use these to swap whenever my hiking pants get too sweaty during hikes.

They have a small glued pocket on your left leg with enough space for a wallet and perhaps a condom, depending on your size.

They are coated with a water repellant (DWR) making them a great choice for rainy days and even swimming!

Here comes those cons to last,

Durability of the fabric is my main concern with these shorts. The overall design is great but the textile is quite fragile making it prone to fray.

The glued pocket is irreparable, if the zipper breaks, unhooks, or anything, it’s actually impossible to fix it.
This is kind of my biggest gripe with these shorts, they are made in a way to be as environmentally friendly as possible.
Yet they are irreparable, which negates the idea of being an eco-friendly alternative because if they break… They are broken.

Revolution Race GP Pro Rescue Pants

This is a brand I have been using for so long that it’s kind of become a meme among my friends. But I have to say, I really love their pants, especially their GP Pro series.
It combines the durability of mountaineering pants and the flexibility of climbing pants for an interesting blend.

The pants are made from a polyester and cotton blend, just as a reminder, it’s not waterproof. You need to spray on a water repellant to make them more resilient to rain. In comparison to the Fjällräven G-1000 which uses a wax system to make them waterproofed.

So why does Alexander love these pants?
I can simply say because of versatility, whichever situation I get myself into, these pants seem to work incredibly well, they are stretchy enough to do proper climbing. They are durable enough for scrambling, alpine climbing, and glacial trips.
They are the pants that will never lay in your closet catching dust as they are suitable for most adventures, for me, they usually leave the drying rack to be used for the next adventure.

The cons and what I dislike about these pants!
There is no way to properly waterproof them, even with the water repellant spray you only get about 1 hour of effective protection before you are wet.
It’s very difficult getting the fabric needed to repair these pants, so if they break, you usually need to patch them with similar material found online.
I highly recommend these patches, Tear-aid is amazing at repairing literally anything possible.
Even Revolution Race pants!
