Black Diamond Crag Gloves

Gloves are extremely important when out in the mountains. It’s important to find the right gloves that fit your needs. I have gone with using Crag Gloves from Black Diamond as my favorite set of gloves during mountaineering, Via-Ferrata, and climbing for the past 5 years.

I mostly use two different sets of crag gloves for my adventures, the set I use the most is the Black Diamond crag Half-finger gloves.

The other set is the “normal” Black Diamond Crag gloves.
So let’s dig into why Alexander actually likes these gloves and why you should buy them!

Starting off, these gloves provide excellent protection for palms and fingers. Making it an easy thrill to climb up ravines, ridges and handling ice axes on glaciers without losing your grip.

The palm and the area between the index finger and thumb are extra reinforced, so when you are handling rope while belaying you won’t suffer any rope burns.

That also helps you during Via Ferrata as most of the time, that’s how you are gripping the steel wire or clamping off the carabiner.

They fit to your hands extremely well with the velcro strap holding them secure through the day with no issues at all.

My favorite feature is actually the little hole you see on the picture of the Half-Finger gloves. Perfect for clipping your gloves on a carabiner when you are not using them or you want them to dry.

Let’s talk about the cons, well in this case I would simply say con as I only dislike one thing about these gloves!

You need two sets of these gloves if you climb in the Scandinavian mountain ranges, we have a lot of streams, snow, and general wet conditions.
These gloves take forever to dry so that they are comfortable to use again, I REPEAT… FOREVER!
